UlasanAnime.com – While I typically find myself despising excessive fanservice, it’s only when it’s executed with genuine purpose, intelligence, and a touch of class that I can find it acceptable. Furthermore, I generally steer clear of lolicon anime.

Magical Pokan, however, seems to incorporate both elements. It possesses a remarkably clever sense of style. My initial thought was, “Why, this is exactly how the Disgaea anime should have looked!” but then I realized that this show managed to strike a chord with me in some unexpected way.
Indeed, the humor and visual flair are reminiscent of the immensely popular N1 game. Yet, it’s crucial to remember that this is not the game itself. I find myself writing about this series, despite its inclusion of elements I usually dislike, because it is, in fact, a well-crafted show.
I don’t anticipate following it closely until the bandwagon followers generate enough buzz to pique my curiosity. However, if you have an affinity for either of these aspects, then this show is likely for you. The fanservice is relatively understated and charming, and it doesn’t feel particularly gratuitous. If anything, it’s fanservice that is executed with intelligence.
This intelligent approach is precisely why I managed to watch the entire episode, and even revisited it a second time. I suspect I found myself more entertained when I watched it with a degree of detachment, in its raw form, while simultaneously engaging in another activity. It felt more serendipitous that way.
It truly stands out as an underrated gem among the comedies released this season. I feel a sense of gratitude for the existence of better shows that keep me from becoming overly engrossed in this one; I would likely find myself completely captivated by it if there were nothing else of comparable quality to watch concurrently.
