UlasanAnime.com – For this season, Touka Gettan stands out as the most thought-provoking anime for me.

After the shocking brutality of Bokurano, I find myself preferring to joke about incestuous references, dimensional stone swords that bend gender, and frilly girl-on-girl action. This is my choice when I want to be both confused and disturbed simultaneously.

Episode 3 had a significant impact on me. I believe this is partly because it reminds me of Melody of Oblivion in some key scenes. Additionally, the musical score evoked memories of the best elements from the entire YamiBou project, specifically a somewhat indie album released in 2002 for a game. It truly captures that peculiar feeling of being utterly lost in a self-contained universe where our familiar rules do not apply, and something grand is unfolding without our full comprehension.
However, let’s focus on the topic of spreading bodily fluids with individuals with whom one should not. In certain aspects, addressing social taboos is a straightforward method of conveying a message. In Utena and Melody, this is quite clear. Yamibou shared this element, but it wasn’t the primary driving force. In some ways, the anime unfolded in a more coherent manner, allowing the message to be understood relatively quickly as the story progressed.
This is not the case with Touka Gettan. It’s exciting to see all the groundwork being laid. Unfortunately, it’s excessively confusing without providing a clear focus.
And is it just me, or does Momoka resemble Mamiko, yet also not?
