UlasanAnime.com – This is a rather rushed attempt at blogging, with only five hours of sleep and a significant portion of that time dedicated to writing this piece. The author expresses a hope for future access to on-the-go broadband internet, perhaps through a cellular connection, within the next year.

The primary focus of this post is to highlight key points from the convention that are not typically covered in standard licensing announcements. Notably, the anime “Ouran High School Host Club” was a major presence, with a larger number of cosplayers compared to the previous year.
A significant portion of the questions posed to Mamiko Noto were addressed. The author even managed to ask a question about her favorite things, which, despite careful phrasing, was understood by the translator and answered by Noto-san without evasion.
Mamiko Noto was described as “very awesome,” answering approximately 35 questions in about 60 minutes. A dedicated fan from China, a huge fan of “Marimite,” handled many of these questions. Additionally, a bilingual otaku posed more probing questions, including one about “Sola.” The author also mentioned an autographing session where Noto-san shook their hand with both hands, an experience they plan to elaborate on later.
Otakon offered more than just anime-specific events. This year featured the shortest registration wait times ever, alongside an interesting array of cosplays, including characters like Kamina, Simon (both pre and post episode 12 from Gurren Lagann), and Sakuya from Touhou. The weather was also favorable, a welcome change from previous Otakon events.
The musical group AAA performed, showcasing their dancing and singing abilities. However, the author felt Otakon might not be fully prepared for a new boy band. While their performance was good, the artificiality of the act was noted, with many attendees at the concert reportedly there for the AMV (Anime Music Video) competition.
Regarding Geneon After Dark, the author engaged with regular attendees like Jerry and, for the first time, Kevin Chu. Chu’s expressed love for “Manabi Straight!” was seen as a positive sign.
