UlasanAnime.com – It’s important to note that many Otakon attendees do not prioritize events like the AMV features and the Masquerade, which typically draw the largest crowds. This trend seems to be growing as the convention’s audience becomes more specialized. This is not a critique of AMV or the Masquerade, but rather an observation that these events face increasing competition for attendees’ time.

More importantly, to allow me to get ready for the Eminence panel tomorrow morning and avoid the inevitable queues –

1. The only panel I managed to attend today was Mamiko Noto’s second session. I arrived about 15 minutes late, estimating I might have missed around 7 to 10 questions. The details from this panel will be included with the Friday notes once I return home and organize them. The most memorable moment was a scene reminiscent of Konata’s Dad. A somewhat disheveled older gentleman, akin to the “creepy old otaku” often seen at large conventions, brought his three well-behaved daughters, aged approximately 8 to 11. They were all dressed in full Marimite costumes, with one girl impressively resembling SD Yumi-chan. When they approached the front to ask Noto-san their questions, she reacted with audible “awws” and delight.

SKILL. My soul will fly.
3. A significant portion of my day was spent relaxing and socializing, which meant missing out on events that readers of blogs might find interesting. However, I’m not entirely sure if I missed anything crucial. The 4chan panel apparently wasn’t very good this year, and information about Code Geass can be found elsewhere (lol Baldr Force). But, it is what it is.
4. We did get to see 5cm, and it was indeed good. The downside? Aside from any potential criticisms of the film itself, Otakon did not secure a 35mm print, forcing us to watch it from a DVD. This makes a huge difference in quality. I’ll definitely be writing more about 5cm and related topics later, as it warrants its own dedicated post.
5. There seemed to be some sort of attempted flash mob at the Bandai booth, featuring a Haruhi dance. LOL. I didn’t catch much of it, as by the time I arrived, it had mostly dispersed.
And with that, omo signs off, finding solace in the thought that I met Jesus today!
