UlasanAnime.com – The discussion surrounding a particular individual on the ANN Forums, specifically concerning the #kickvic topic, reveals a predictable pattern. It’s quite easy to identify the few posters who seem to adopt the narrative often associated with “The Shield Hero.”
Here is my issue with this whole thing. These rumors have existed for years and there is supposed evidence and testimonies and even his voice colleagues yet he was still getting jobs and invited to cons.
if there is evidence, charges should be pressed and taken to the police and not to the internet mob.
and as for the voice colleagues, their words are as good as dirt. The guy is a supposed sexual predator. Yet you still worked with him or never came forward publicly before so either A. They were worried about their careers making them complicit, B. They didn’t care or C. They are lying.
However, this perspective often presents a fantasy that rarely materializes in reality. Occam’s Razor suggests simpler explanations, and statistically, the odds are heavily stacked against the notion of unchecked white male privilege in such cases.
The “Shield Hero” narrative, as presented, often frames a well-intentioned man who unintentionally crosses a line, only to be accused of a male-privilege violation. In this imagined scenario, the transgression is typically portrayed as minor and forgivable. This is not the situation in Vic’s case; there appears to be a clearly established pattern of abuse. While the full facts may not always be clear, and we likely only possess partial information, the available evidence is largely condemning, with some aspects being questionably so.
The inclination to turn to the internet mob, driven by a sense of justice, is a common and often counterproductive first step. This phenomenon fuels the “SJW” mentality, as well as the counter-movements like Gamergate and various anti- or alt-right groups. The true perversion of justice, however, lies in the wasted energy spent on these debates, neglecting the existence of actual victims and the tangible actions that can be taken to improve the situation. Many different actions can be undertaken by individuals with diverse capacities.
This approach is only viable if people possess the maturity to distinguish fantasy from reality.
