DereSute Week 9: Blue Whales Nation

UlasanAnime.com – Following the lessons learned from the Atapon event, players are now seeing the results of their efforts in the Nation Blue event, with inflated final scores.

The author was inspired to create a quick spreadsheet to estimate the maximum event score achievable by a player using only naturally gained stamina, with minimal waste. Stamina drinks and jewels were not factored into this calculation. The estimated maximum score reached approximately 20,000.

A significant difference between Nation Blue (NB) and Atapon was the players’ experience. Atapon was the inaugural event, and many participants were understandably cautious. However, with NB, scores surged, exceeding the average Atapon score at the same point in the event. While many players waited for the 4x multiplier, their scores did not drastically increase. The moderate score jump suggests improved efficiency or increased competition, leaving the question of whether Nana or Kaede was the focus unanswered.

Another key distinction between NB and Atapon was the event duration. Atapon ran for approximately two extra days. While Atapon concluded with a score just over 25,000, which falls within the natural gain range, NB’s score surpassed 21,000 by midday on October 28th (Japan time), clearly placing it in the jewel-spending territory.

This particular player, aspiring to be a “whale,” spent only 600 jewels, which is less than what was spent to acquire an SSR Minami. The expenditure was also higher than desired, with 100 jewels allocated to improving performance in Nation Blue. The player did not fail Nation Blue until later in the event, experiencing failures due to mistakes, including one on a 4x multiplier. A consistent streak of S-ranks from the initial playthrough was broken by these errors, which seemed illogical to the author. It appears NB presented a more challenging grind than Atapon, and the author personally found the chart less appealing, even if the difficulty wasn’t significantly higher.

Inventory space became an issue as the author decided to keep all duplicate SR cards. However, some Vampire Syoko cards were experimented on to observe the outcome of using them in lessons. This decision led to the inventory overflow.

The author’s final score, with one Neirose remaining, was projected to be over 23,000, indicating a strong likelihood of reaching the 100k tier. The author expressed gratitude to Bamco for making the event manageable. However, “true Blue Whales” significantly impacted NB, as evidenced by the chart comparing Atapon and NB scores over the same time elapsed. The author wished everyone good luck.

Personally, the author did not enjoy this event much due to its short duration. Players who could not dedicate a substantial amount of time to grinding were at a disadvantage. Shorter event periods often coincide with busy schedules. Furthermore, the rewards were not particularly noteworthy. It seemed that unless one was a dedicated KaedeP, investing heavily in the event, potentially through 10-roll purchases for ranking within the 20k tier, was not highly beneficial. The “whale” aspect was more pronounced than in Atapon, and while the shorter duration might have somewhat curbed this, the author couldn’t see it easing significantly.

On a positive note, the author is now preparing for the upcoming OraSapp event. Although SSR Airi was missed, the author possesses most other passion cards. Additionally, the OraSapp song is considered a hype track.
