The Other Twins

UlasanAnime.com – While Ami and Mami are the most recognized twin idols in the IDOLM@STER franchise, there are other pairs of twins who have also made their mark.

The Other Twins

The Cinderella Girls 2nd live Blu-ray release brings attention to Sattun and her fellow indie-idol-turned-seiyuu twin, Matsuda Risae. Matsuda Satsumi, known for her role as Syoko, captivated the audience during the live performance. She wore a striking studded jacket, perfectly tailored to her petite frame, and delivered a powerful performance during what is considered Syoko’s image song.

Prior to their current endeavors, the Matsuda twins had a history as underground idols during their teenage years. They also participated in the now-discontinued Anison Grand Prix for several years, though they did not advance beyond the regional rounds.

A Belated Halloween?

When the topic of twins and IM@S arises, Yukiho is often one of the first characters that come to mind. For many, Azumin’s portrayal of Yukiho is perceived as distinct from Yurishii’s interpretation. While treated as a single character, there’s an emotional separation, akin to twin sisters who are fundamentally the same yet possess individual differences.

This sentiment was particularly amplified after reading Yurishii’s tweets on the matter, especially in the wake of Matsuki’s passing. Anime News Network has previously covered this topic, with original sources archived by Yaraon. However, the full story extends beyond the translated information.

Yurishii faced considerable personal challenges during those years, including navigating agency changes and dealing with death threats. While not deeply familiar with the specifics, a cursory look reveals the difficulties she encountered as a seiyuu for the beleaguered idol character. It’s important to note that back in 2008, the author was not as invested in Yurishii’s career and did not closely follow the events surrounding her.

However, it is evident that Yurishii has since overcome those obstacles. She has actively participated in live events in recent years and has spoken more openly about her experiences with IM@S, which remains a significant aspect of her career marketing. Despite the challenges, a significant portion of Yukiho’s fanbase continued to appreciate Yurishii’s portrayal, cementing it as an unforgettable element of both the character’s and the franchise’s history.
