UlasanAnime.com – It appears that backtracking is always an option, but it’s rarely taken.

I attempted to replace “Hane” with “Yui” in a previous post, and it was successful for approximately 60% of the content. I would like to state the following:

Hane did indeed cause difficulties for her friends. For instance, she encountered problems with her motorcycle during a group outing. However, this serves as a plot device and a reference. In fact, it’s a recurring theme in motorcycling; often, you travel in a group, but it’s fundamentally a solitary activity. Being left behind is a common running gag. One could argue that KyoAni’s K-ON adopted this theme and resolved it without extensive explanation. In contrast, Bakuon had a specific point to convey, which necessitated detailed exposition.
The extent to which Hane’s sister cared for her was never fully depicted. Nevertheless, it’s safe to assume that Hane is a direct imitation of Yui, and thus, a similar level of dependence is expected.
When comparing a newcomer’s journey into music versus their entry into the world of motorcycling, I find the narratives in both stories to be remarkably similar. The primary distinction lies in the fact that one pursuit requires a team, while the other is an activity undertaken individually within a group setting. If you perceive Yui as foolish for causing problems for others, you likely haven’t encountered enough individuals like Tarō Takanashi in your life. Were it not for the involvement of less astute individuals, the realm of rock music would undoubtedly be a far less engaging prospect.
Despite these observations, Bakuon remains my top series of the season. My reasoning is that I anticipated anyone posing such a question would likely be seeking a simplistic answer, as the question itself isn’t particularly profound. Furthermore, if one were to arbitrarily distill a catalog of roughly 50 anime into a single recommendation for a lighthearted reason, Bakuon would be a fitting choice.
