UlasanAnime.com – The PA Works festival, a gathering focused on the music of their anime productions, recently took place, offering a blend of live performances and fan engagement. The event was held at Maihama, a location familiar to Tokyo Disneyland visitors, drawing a mix of regular tourists and the dedicated anime enthusiast crowd.

The festival itself is structured like many anime events, featuring individuals involved with the shows presenting their work. Given that Tari Tari is a series deeply intertwined with music, this focus on its soundtrack was particularly fitting. The event aimed to showcase the musical talents behind these beloved productions.

Outside the venue, the atmosphere was relaxed. Initially, there was a misunderstanding about the merchandise sales ending at 3 PM, leading to an arrival after 4 PM. This provided an opportunity to wait outside, enjoying the pleasant weather while awaiting a travel companion arriving from Narita Terminal 2. The decision to stay outdoors was preferable to being inside with a large group of enthusiastic fans.
A notable acquisition was a special wall scroll created specifically for the event. It was later discovered that these merchandise items would also be available for purchase in Akihabara starting in May, making the missed shopping opportunity less of a concern. Furthermore, items were still being sold at the venue even after the initial designated sales period.
The overall experience was comparable to attending an Anisama-level event, with the added benefit of a personal connection to all the featured music, stemming from a strong appreciation for all three anime series involved. A significant highlight was witnessing Riya perform music from True Tears, alongside seeing Sphere live and hearing the Tari Tari voice actors deliver vocal harmonies. These moments stood out as particularly memorable aspects of the festival.
While a precise tracklist was not available, the performances primarily consisted of the opening and ending themes from the respective anime. Nano.ripe, in particular, is believed to have performed a couple of B-side tracks, possibly related to other media releases that were not immediately recognizable. The event notably shifted the perception of Sphere and Aira Yuuki for the attendee.
The transitions between musical acts were accompanied by various segments, creating a dynamic flow to the show. Nano.ripe appeared on stage multiple times, including an encore, which was noted as a significant presence. The bassist for Clammbon was identified as having an interest in anime, having expressed a preference for True Tears when asked to choose a favorite. The performances by the Sphere members were characterized by their usual routines, and a particular moment of amusement arose from Asami Seto’s nervousness leading to some playful errors. Saori Hayami was observed to possess a vocal quality reminiscent of Noto, but with an enhanced ability in singing and dancing.
Aki Toyosaki’s appearance in a tall hat was met with considerable excitement.
An unexpected element was the True Tears tie-in, with Riya performing several of its themes. The string ensemble that accompanied Minori Chihaya performed a four-piece medley featuring themes from all three anime series. The event also included the deployment of flying streamers, coordinated camera poses, and a collaborative performance by nano.Ripe, Riya, and Airi. This integration of elements was perceived as a positive addition to the festival.
Additional observations from the event include:
- Ayahi Takagaki showcased four different costume changes throughout the event and performed the song “Aburamushi.”
- The voice actors for Tari Tari were seen wearing a distinctive cool t-shirt.
- Despite the concert website listing only four of the five Tari Tari voice actors, Airi Daichi was present and performed “Shiokaze no Harmony,” which was considered an epic moment.
- The high school choir, a component of the Tari Tari performance, comprised new members in April. This was due to the graduation of the previous year’s senior members in March, resulting in a partially changed lineup.
- The seating arrangement was in the handicap section at the back of the front section (row 9) on the right side of the stage. While considered a “rip” given the ticket price, it offered the convenience of extra space.
Overall, the festival was a highly enjoyable experience, and the opportunity to witness it in person was greatly appreciated, even with the possibility of a future Blu-ray release. The evening concluded with socializing at A-Button, a local establishment, where the curry was highly recommended. The group spent a considerable amount of time at the venue.
